Inspired by "36 views of Mount Fuji" by Japanese artist Hokusai, this photographic series is a visual homage to Burj Khalifa, the highest tower in the world. Located in the city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, it stands at 828 meters tall and touches the clouds - quite literally.
Over the course of three years, Nicolas Cornet explored the city looking for unique angles to capture the tower. Searching for the perfect light, hoping to catch a glimpse of the elusive fog and accessing these unique vantage points, his journey has been exhilarating.
The images are in black and white, and this contrast serves to emphasise the tower’s geometry and simple composition, giving each scene a sense of timelessness.
The result is a collection of portraits offering new ways of looking at this architectural wonder.
A beacon in the harsh Arabian desert, the ultimate cityscape subject.
